About this artwork

This piece is inspired by the “ We are our mountains” monument in Artsakh built in 1967 from volcanic tufa. It is also known as “tatik u papik” in Armenian, which translates as “Grandma & Grandpa”. The sculpture is prominent in Artsakh’s coat of arms an is widely regarded as a symbol of the Armenian heritage.
