I like to think that every french knot represents a Lebanese citizen. The fact that it is unfinished shows how many, just like me, have left, because there’s nothing left for us there, and because we can better help our families from abroad. The french knots that have already been stitched, however, represent everyone who is staying, standing their ground, adamant that the country will see its better days.
The hanging thread represents hope. Hope that our country will recover, hope that our country will become stronger than it ever was, mirroring the undying resilience of its people, hope that we will all go back to our country. It is together that we will be able to build a better Lebanon for us all.
