Artscoops, in collaboration with Mark Hachem Gallery, is proud to present its online auction: “ARMAN”.

Born Armand Pierre Fernandez in Nice in 1928, Arman is most recognised for his contribution to the Nouveau Realisme movement, which represented France’s response to American Pop Art in the 1960’s. After studying archaeology and Eastern Art at the Ecole du Louvre, Arman began painting in a lyrical and abstract style. His work soon evolved into free-form sculpture, comprised of found metal objects, which the artist welded together.

After establishing himself in New York City, his projects became ever more ambitious and prolific, and featured accumulations of tools, clocks, jewellery and countless other materials. He would weld hundreds of these objects together into sculpted formations, some only centimetres high, others filling entire rooms. He would encase the objects in polymer resin to form optically intriguing showcases for them.

Bidding is live from February 20th to March 5th, 2018. NO BUYER'S PREMIUM WILL BE APPLIED IN THIS AUCTION.
