About Michel Adaimy
Michel was born in 1988 and raised in Awkar, Lebanon. He graduated from the Lebanese-American University (LAU) with a bachelor’s degree in computer science and a minor in business. Even though he was not studying art, Michel was nonetheless fascinated by the subject and in 2012, at the age of 24, he decided to pursue his interest and started to sketch and imitate other artists. This led him to experimenting and finding his own style.
When Michel shared his passion for art with his grandmother, she encouraged him to take it further and introduced him to the artist Zoha Nassif at ‘La Maison des Artistes’ where he was able to immerse himself in his study of art and follow his passion. Michel acknowledges the tremendous influence and inspiration of his teacher Zoha Nassif on his work. From 2012 until 2014, Michel displayed his work in three exhibitions at ‘La Maison des Artistes’, something he could not have dreamed of doing before.
In 2015 and 2016, Michel lived in Paris to further his art knowledge and there he joined the Ecole Intuit Lab. Upon his return to Lebanon, Michel fell in love with abstract art. In the year that followed, he took his sketches to another level and began drawing canvases.
It was only in 2018 that Michel chanced upon a friend who both challenged him and gave him the confidence to abandon his insecurities and let his art truly speak. It was then that Michel decided to work on the exhibition. It is inspired by honesty and purity in life and in art.
This theme is carried in the exhibition through abstract art on traditional canvas, on metal canvas, sculpture, and projections. Each piece conveys the pure and honest emotions that were experienced in its creation. In today’s exhibition you will notice Michel’s use of bold colours and movement and the transformation of his work from impressionism to abstract form.
Michel’s influencers are:
Vincent Van Gogh, Salvador Dali, Jean Michel Basquiat, Jean Dubuffet, Pablo Picasso, and Zoha Nassif
