About Kevork Mourad
Kevork Mourad was born in 1970 in Kamechli, Syria. He received his Master’s degree in Fine Arts from the Yerevan Institute of Fine Arts in Armenia, and he now lives and works in New York City. Mourad combines painting with performance art in a series of distinctive and expressive works that join art, music and performance together. Mourad's defining style is "spontaneous painting", which involves creating paintings that are in concord with music. He also shares the stage with musicians, a collaboration in which art and music develop in counterpoint to each other. Mourad has performed in many museums such as the Brooklyn Museum of Art, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Le Festival du Monde Arabe in Montreal, the Stillwater Festival, The Nara Museum in Japan, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Rubin Museum of Art and The Armenian Center for Contemporary Experimental Art in Yerevan, to name a few.
