MORE FROM THIS ARTIST

About this artwork

Love series is an iconic work that dives deeply into the human psyche.

The Love ranks among the artist’s most fascinating and iconic work, displaying elements that are contrasting, such as the choice of colour, and unity, like the use of letters, to create the delicately positioned, two or three-pronged form.

The idea of the Love series first came to Al Suwaidi in 2013, when he was traveling through the desert on a photographic expedition and spotted two Al Ghaf trees that were isolated, yet simultaneously a duo, seemingly providing each other with companionship and support. “I was inspired by the simplicity of nature in the desert,” he explained. “It occurred to me that love can be found throughout the universe and travels by true feelings.”

The series is the signature of the artist, both for its hallmark use of calligraphic elements and the way in which the Emirati artist looks to the natural landscape of his birthplace for inspiration. Created from painted fiberglass, the series includes several works, all of which have their own tale to tell, while forming a chapter in an epic, emotive tale.
