Influenced by her studies in psychology, Lina Smoudi paints people from her memory and dreams. Naively rendered using simplistic shapes and hues, she creates portraits or scenes that symbolically depict emotion or tell a story. Ranging from people in agitated conversations, solo figures crying, or different worlds filled with female characters, her works have a sense of intimacy and introspection.
Born in Jeddah, Syrian artist Lina Smoudi (1987) studied psychology at Damascus University and fine arts at Adham Ismail Institute in Damascus. In Paris, she is studying at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts.
