Fantine Samaha
Born in 1979 in Lourdes, France, Fantine Samaha is a self-taught painter with a French mother and a Lebanese father.
Fantine had the opportunity to sign a musical contract with Universal Music on the Mercury label, for which she gave up her studies in Art History. Along with music, a second passion was born: painting. And Fantine dabbled in a few sketches that were for a time very ephemeral.
In her quest for identity between music, writing and her professional projects, painting reappears as obvious. A passion that will grow and take on a whole symbolism around light and shadow. She constantly plays between the two through her drawings or her paintings on black backgrounds.
Her love of animals, her desire to represent them in all their grace and beauty, will encourage her to perfect her work, always striving for more details and giving her animals a look and posture that have become recognizable.
"Earth" and "Earth II" collection.
The theme of ballet, playing forcefully with light and shadow will also be a very strong theme. Made in chalk and charcoal, the ballet dancers will echo grace, detail and sensuality.
A step towards drawing which will then lead to other collections:
“Women of the world” portraits of women from different countries with detailed jewelry and headdresses.
"Vieux Cafés de France" drawings inspired by old photos representing scenes in cafes. Limited edition.
“Old Lebanon” drawings inspired by old photos of Lebanon in its heyday.
