Dr. Nina Salem Shabb

I have always had an interest in art, although I never trained in it formally. My passion for ceramics started 23 years ago when I took my two oldest daughters to ceramic classes for fun, when they were 12 and 13. As a full-time pathologist, raising 4 girls, I didn’t have time to pursue ceramics. Only when they all went away for college, 8 years ago, did I have more time to dedicate to the craft. I love working with clay, it is challenging in that it combines both science and art. It offers an endless world of beauty, exploration and growth. I still practice pathology full time, and when I am not at the hospital, I am passionately working on ceramics with friends or in my studio.
