Atiq Rahimi
Follow ArtistAtiq Rahimi was born in 1962 in Kabul (Afghanistan), he lives and works today in Paris. He studied at the Franco-Afghan Lycée Estiqlal in Kabul. In 1984, he left Afghanistan for Pakistan because of the war, then applied for and obtained political asylum in France where he spent a doctorate in audiovisual communication at the Sorbonne.
He makes documentary films, and in 2004 he adapts his novel "Terre et cendres", which, presented at the Cannes Film Festival, won the “Regard sur the future ". In 2008, he received the prestigious Goncourt prize for his novel Syngue Sabour, which he would adapt to cinema three years later.
In February 2014 Atiq Rahimi unveils his Callimorphies at an exhibition at the Galerie Cinema Anne-Dominique Toussaint. In August 2015, the editions of the Iconoclast publish an intimate portrait of Atiq Rahimi, La Ballade du Calame. Atiq Rahimi presents today Callimorphies, an exhibition at the Maison de la Poésie as part of the Hors les Murs of the YIA Art Fair in partnership with Galerie Cinema Anne-Dominique Toussaint et Marais Culture + 2015.
