Anass Ouaziz

Anass Ouaziz is a photographer and artist from Beni Mellal, a small city at the base of Jbel Tassemit in Morocco, whose work uncovers beauty in the ordinary. Guided by a sharp sense of observation, he reveals quiet narratives hidden in everyday life, exploring the intersection of light, space, and emotion in overlooked moments. Drawing inspiration from the Atlas Mountains and his Amazigh heritage, Ouaziz captures the raw essence of mountain life and the deep connection between rural landscapes and cultural traditions, creating a visual homage to his roots and celebrating the harmony between nature and identity. Alongside his documentary practice, he develops conceptual projects that weave introspection, boundaries, and alternative perspectives into visual form. Now based in Wuhan, China, he continues to expand his practice through cross-cultural encounters and site-specific exploration, with a focus on giving back to the communities he documents by shedding new light on places often misunderstood or unseen.

His work has been featured in publications including M Le Monde, Apartamento, Monocle, Konfekt, Friends of Friends, Vogue Business, Hypebeast Arabia, AD Middle East, and Fisheye. In 2024, he launched his photozine Leave Stress at the Door at IZZA. In 2022, Ouaziz received the Textile Exchange Photography Prize in collaboration with Magnum Photos for his conceptual project Private Transmissions.
