Born in Homs, Syrian artist Abdullah Murad graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Damascus in 1970. His paintings are experimental and wild in the use of colour and movement, exposing layers of details, varying from thick impasto to transparent. He also mixes media textures, newspaper collages and cut-outs. Murad’s art resides in the dialogue between the architectural surface and the colour that moves in sensational shivers in a romantic abstract visual expression, transforming his works into arabesques.
