Fakher Mohammad
Born in 1954 in Babylon, Iraq, Fakher Mohammad earned two degrees from The Academy of Fine Arts in Baghdad, a Bachelor degree in Painting in 1977, and a Master's in Painting in 1980. In 2003, he went on to earn a Ph.D. in Modern Painting. He currently holds the position of Dean of The College of Fine Arts at Babylon University and is a member of the Iraqi Artists Syndicate and the Society of Iraqi Plastic Artists. Fakher is an undisputed pioneer in the Iraqi contemporary art scene. With a diverse and resounding palette of styles, he is a chameleon that embeds himself completely into any form that his paintings assume, whether abstracts or concrete in depiction. Fakher is the winner of several prices such as the Special Prize for Merit of The Cagnes-sur-Mer Festival in 1984, The Faik Hassan Silver Prize for Youth in 1985, and the Prize of Creativity in Painting on the occasion of Art Day in 2000.
