In her practice, Meaiki takes on the role of composer of stories, colour and emotions, brought together through dynamic brush strokes, in works that convey a deep sense of reality, yet are often combined with fantasy.
Conveying Emotional Journeys Through Painting
Meaiki refers to her paintings as “emotional experiences”, where memories and her journey of self-discovery both make a critical contribution to the overall work.
As an artist for whom self-expression is paramount, Meaiki is sharing with audiences her internal world of challenges, but also feelings of happiness in deeply emotional narratives. And yet these explorations of wide-ranging emotions and interactions on canvas, completed in a vibrant palette, remain enigmatic, allowing space for audiences to interpret the work in front of them, envisaging their own stories instead of aligning them with those of the artist, and drawing on their own personal experiences.
Dynamic Brushstrokes, Vibrant Palettes, and Enigmatic Narratives
Meaiki has participated in exhibitions at the Gallerist, where her work can be viewed, and is also on Artscoops. Recent group shows displaying her work include: ‘Art Defined’, the Gallerist, held as part of Rebirth Beirut (2022); and ‘Le Club des Artistes Plasticiens Libanais’, Beit Beirut (2021).
