Rafik Majzoub

Born in 1971, Rafik Majzoub is a Lebanese painter and graphic artist. He is self-taught and considers himself an “outsider artist,” claiming a prominent position in the post-war Lebanese art scene. His oeuvre focuses on the human condition, but also on the quest for the self. His canvases bear expressive, yet unfinished qualities, which render them timeless, spontaneous and progressing. Majzoub embeds his works with tension, in order to shed light on the power of instinct and the liberation of the unconscious. The artist has recently moved to live and work in Marseille, France. In his upcoming exhibition at Art on 56th, the artist will be showcasing works produced between 1995 and 2018. This retrospective will reveal the progression of his work, and the direction of his creative journey.
