Omar Khouri
Follow ArtistBorn in London, UK, Omar Khouri spent his childhood in Lebanon, before travelling to the US to study, where he graduated from Massachusetts College of Art and Design, Boston with a BFA in Illustration in 2002. Today, he currently lives in Koura, north Lebanon. An interdisciplinary artist, Khouri works across a wide range of media which spans painting, comics, animation, film, theatre and music. Delving into the common loneliness of the human condition which, he says, “paradoxically connects us all”, is a key focus of his work. In 2006, Khouri co-founded Samandal Comics, a ground-breaking, Beirut-based comic collective. His work has featured in several group and solo shows worldwide and can be found in a number of international collections. Recent solo shows include: The Left Hand of Darkness, Beirut Art Residency (BAR), Lebanon (2019-20); Glass, The Park Gallery, London, UK (2018); and Exhibitionist, La Vitrine Beirut Art Residency, Lebanon (2018). He also took part in Face Value: Portraiture, a group show at Saleh Barakat Gallery, Beirut (2018).
