Gregory Gatserelia
Follow ArtistFrom Georgian descent but adopted by Lebanon and Canada, Gregory Gatserelia studied at the Académie Libanaise des Beaux-Arts in Interior Architecture. Passionate by Europe antiques and a lover of Paris, he is an insatiable traveller whose thirst of the world structures his creations. In 1985, he founded Gatserelia Design in Toronto with his brother Alexander Gatserelia and ten years later, he moved back to Lebanon where he began to expand and develop the company, building on its excellent reputation of creating increasingly innovative and internationally acclaimed projects.
In 2011, Gatserelia opened his own art gallery, Smo Gallery, in Beirut which publishes and presents the works of today’s promising or established international and Lebanese designers. His vision for the gallery is to promote unique works and limited series, exploring the movement of boundaries between contemporary art, design and architecture – three disciplines that nurture and shape the new territories of design.
