Lionel Esteve

Born in 1967 in Lyon, France, Lionel Esteve lives and works in Brussels, Belgium. The work of Estève lies amidst the crossroads of drawing, sculpture and installation. The informality and fragility conveyed – features typical in the pieces of his production – stir up our perception of an endless reality, as they reveal a space that appears manifest and almost tangible. The playful interaction of his work with space, colors and sensorial perception results from a meticulous research that involves a wide array of materials. His creations yield some sort of balance between randomness, motion, iteration and rigorousness.

Esteve’s notable solo exhibition include Galerie Perrotin in Paris (2019), Galerie Perrotin in Seoul (2018), Albert Baronian in Brussels (2017) and Empty Gallery in Hong Kong (2017). His notable group exhibitions include the Centre Pompidou in Paris (2019), Galerie de Sèvres in Paris (2019), Mori Art Gallery in Tokyo (2017) and the Art Science Museum in Singapoe (2017), amongst many others.
