Ramiz Barquet (1920-2010) was from Mexico City and lived for 33 years in Valparaiso. He started sculpture early. He studied in Mexico City and in Canada; he studied at the School of Fine Arts and Furniture in Montreal and Quebec. He returned to Mexico and collaborated for many years with the sculptor Augusto Bozzano. From 1946, he often travelled to Europe, where he attended art courses in Paris and Florence.
Currently some of his works are in cities of the Mexican Republic, as well as in Canada, the United States, Japan, China and various countries in Europe and Latin America.
