Walid Ardhaoui
Follow ArtistBorn 1978 in Kairouan, Tunisia. Lives and works in Tunis, Tunisia.
The hyperrealism of Walid Ardhaoui's works acts as an intermediary between reality and the subconscious and allows him to transcend the boundaries of language and culture. His practice purposefully amalgamates elements of drawing, painting and photography -always in dissonance of one another- to tackle issues such as immigration, consumerism and the loss of innocence inherent to adulthood. Walid Ardhaoui graduated with a degree in Interior Design in 2006 (Higher Institute of Fine Arts, Tunisia (ISBAT)) and a Diploma of English in 2008 (Dublin School of English). Notable exhibitions include AL MAHJOUZ, El Teatro, Tunisia (2016); ISTHMUS, A Gorgi, Carthage, Tunisia (2017). Walid Ardhaoui's works have also been featured in the 2017 edition of Jaou Tunis focused on the theme of "The Migrant Nation", organized by the Kamel Lazaar Foundation, whose foundation also permanently hosts some of his works.
