Tamara Al-Samerraei
Born in Kuwait and living in Beirut, Tamara Al-Samerraei draws on visual materials, such as photos and film stills, of familiar scenes, objects and figures in her work, paring them down to their bare essence. Al-Samerraei gained a BA in Fine Arts from the Lebanese American University in Beirut in 2002 and completed the inaugural year of the Home Workspace Program at Ashkal Alwan (2011-2012), Beirut. She has participated in several group exhibitions in Beirut, Sharjah, Paris and Kuwait, and also held solo shows, namely: Let Me Stay a Little Longer, Marfa, Beirut; Make Room For Me, Gypsum Gallery, Cairo; and Fleeting Fences and Something White, Agial Art Gallery, Beirut.
