Lubna Abdelaziz is a young fine art photographer from Alexandria, Egypt. Self-portraiture for her is not autobiographical in nature. Instead, she attempts to place herself within worlds she wishes we could live in, where the impossible becomes possible. Abdelaziz at once captures the complex strength and fragility of the human psyche.
With its marbled background and deep textures, the self-portrait series She is painterly in its nature. Dressed in a simple white dress, Abdelaziz stands with a bouquet of roses, ensconced by a stream of soft light. Her post-processing highlights the smudged edges: the delicate folds of cotton and flower petals seem even more gauzy against the broad blurs.
