Saoud Abdallah

Lives in Lebanon 

Using a minimalist style with Eastern influences, Saoud Abdallah creates large figural paintings that have a certain stillness to them, exuding calm. Philosophically, he talks about his work, saying “I love to keep the invisible [a] secret, perhaps it will stimulate my desire to meditate. I cannot see everything at once, so I [am] always [in] doubt.” 

Born in Hassaka, Saoud Abdallah (1976) graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts, Damascus University and received his postgraduate diploma in 2006. Experimenting with materials sourced from nature, Abdallah uses ground rocks and sand in his works – similar to the elements of a Zen garden. Imbued with hints of Chinese and Japanese design, these abstracted works often portray the curvy outline of the nude female body yet, notably, without facial features. 

Abdallah has exhibited his work in Syria, Lebanon, Kuwait, the UK and Italy.
