ANOTHER STRANGER by Berine Pharaon

“My passion for photography blossomed spontaneously, it was only later on that I sought to acquire the technical process and expertise. I don’t particularly or systematically feel the need to resort to a documentary approach. In my photography nevertheless, it is evident that the autobiographical charge turns out to become quite existing. The main similarities between my work in Lebanon and my work abroad is the relationship to time, the solitary path of a wanderer, the introspection into what is observed. In Lebanon in particular, and more than anywhere else, I feel the urge to have my work geared toward preservation of our heritage and specifically of our freedom among other things. I am very sensitive to what I find to be beautiful and systematically research a certain aesthetic in the free dialogue between my photography and the observer.”
