Born in Tripoli, Lebanon in 1962, Camille Zakharia left his country after the civil war broke, and headed for the United States, then went on to live in Canada, Turkey, Greece and Bahrain. A graduate of the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, Zakharia is a photographer whose art represents everyday life situations that are altered by historical and political circumstances. His more recent work is based on texture photographs of urban objects, such as asphalt and paint. Zakharia constructs irredeemable solids sculpted into patterns, carefully staged as wholeness.
