Graduate of the St. Petersburg Academy of Fine Arts, Yuristabek Shygaev is a Kyrgzyz artist. He is best known for his folk and philosophical artworks inspired by his own heritage and traditions. Shygaev studied the traditions of Turkic nomads and their lifestyles. He discovered that the ancient nomadic technique is advanced and can be used in modern ways. Shygaev’s artworks reflect his thoughts on the modern world and its harmonisation with myths. He is currently the director of the State Museum of Fine Arts in Bishkek.
