Born in Syria , Khaled Al-Saa’I works and resides today in Sharjah, UAE. Al-Saa’i has lead several calligraphy workshops and has lectured in prestigious art academies and institutions such as Wellesley College, Yale University, Sharjah Institute of Arts, Museum of Calligraphy (Sharjah), Bonn Museum of Art, and Harvard University. In 2009, he was awarded the first prize in Modern Calligraphy during the International Festival of Calligraphy in Algeria, and in 2003 and 2007, he was awarded the Modern Calligraphy Prize by the Sharjah Museum of Art. Al-Saa’I was also awarded the First Prize of Diwany Jaly during the International Competition of Calligraphy in Istanbul, Turkey.
